Newbury was first mentioned as being a town with permission to hold a market and fair in as far back as 1079, almost 1,000 years ago. It’s a tradition that the town has nurtured and maintained and there are now a number of wonderful markets to choose from when you visit Newbury.
Every Thursday and Saturday from 9am to 4pm throughout the year, Newbury Town Council hold their weekly charter market in the historic Market Place. You’ll find a wide variety of goods on offer, with traditional produce, plants & flowers, craft items, clothing, and local produce. Pick up a freshly baked treat, get your colourful fruit and veg for the week, buy some flowers for a friend deserving of kindness, or grab something hot and tasty for lunch before sitting to devour it in Victoria Park.
On the first Sunday of each month from 9am to 1pm, the Farmers Market comes to town. Part of the Thames Valley Farmers Market Co-operative, this is the perfect place to pick up high-quality, local, seasonal produce from a range of small producers.
On the final Sunday of each month (March through to December) from 10am to 4pm, Newbury’s popular Artisan Market takes over the streets of Newbury. This is the place to be if you love quality produce, vintage treasures, original art, designer crafts, and sizzling street food, all with a vibrant atmosphere perfect for enjoying with friends and loved ones. There’s even an array of activities and music to keep you entertained whilst you browse.
Once a quarter, Newbury’s Vegan Market arrives, awash with colour, excitement, and the best of Vegan food and products. Keep an eye on our Events section to find out when it will next be in town!
