Empty Chairs is a lovely initiative about creating spaces where people can connect, without pressure or expectation.

Each evening, the host books small table in a pub and leaves a few chairs empty – inviting anyone who wants company to join. There’s no pressure, no agenda, and no expectation to stay longer than you want.

Loneliness affects people of all ages, and Empty Chairs exists to create low-pressure spaces where real human connection can happen – even if it’s just sitting together for a drink.

Hosts will be easy to spot as they will always be wearing something orange, and they will be at the table for at least an hour from 7pm.

It is completely free to join for a chat – you only pay for your own drinks if you choose to have any.
