Calling All Newbury Charities: Apply now to become the Headline Charity for the Newbury BID Krazy Races!

The Newbury BID Krazy Races Soapbox Derby is coming to Newbury on Sunday, 24th August 2025! We’re excited to announce the search for the Headline Charity partner for the event, with the local community playing a key role in selecting the headline charity via a public vote!

With over 250,000 visitors and £150,000+ raised for local causes across the UK, Krazy Races has made a significant impact. Now, we are looking for an incredible local charity to be the headline partner for Newbury’s event, and you will help decide who that will be!

Newbury BID, the not-for-profit community interest company behind the Visit Newbury brand, is thrilled to be bringing Krazy Races to the Newbury for the town’s first every Soapbox Derby!

This partnership with Krazy Races highlights Newbury as a destination for exciting events and local community engagement, and together we aim to create an unforgettable experience for the town and its residents.

Ben Beardmore-Gray, Marketing Manager at Newbury BID, says: “There has been a huge amount of local excitement for this event since our launch in January, and the Headline Charity campaign will allow all of Newbury’s brilliant local charities – from the smallest to the largest – a hugely visible platform to champion and raise awareness of all the fantastic work they do. Good luck to everyone that enters!”

Here’s everything you need to know about the selection process:

  • 20th February – 10th March: Newbury charities are invited to apply by completing the online application form. Any questions? Please email danny@sarahbelcherevents.co.uk
  • 10th March: Application period closes.
  • 11th – 13th March: Consultation with charities.
  • 14th – 23rd March: Public vote via Krazy Races social media channels. (Charities are encouraged to share these posts to maximise votes!)
  • 24th March: Chosen charity announced.

Charity Criteria:

  • Must be a UK-registered charity with a charity number.
  • Based within the Newbury postcode area and directly benefiting the local community.
  • Staff or volunteers must be available to attend the event on Sunday, 24th August 2025.
  • Strong connections with local businesses to encourage them to take part in the event by entering soapbox teams.
  • Must commit to promoting the event through your website, social media, and local PR channels.
