Educafe runs a welcoming community café at Newbury Library every Wednesday from 11am-2pm.

Anyone is welcome to head along for a free tea and cake in the Carnegie Room upstairs on the 1st floor of the library, accessible by lift.

Educafe was started to bring together the diverse communities of West Berkshire and aims to:

  • Provide safe spaces to meet, eat, learn and make new friends.
  • Bring people together to create community spirit and cohesion.
  • Break down barriers and reduce health inequalities.
  • Improve health and wellbeing of residents and access to local services.
  • Reduce isolation and loneliness and improve people’s mental health.

During the opening hours you can also visit the Parent Village and meet others going through similiar parental experiences, meet other like-minded creatives at Knit & Natter, or take part in the Chatty Corner language support group which offers a warm and friendly welcome to all non-native speakers, including asylum seekers and refugees.

In the Carnegie Room after the café is closed, a drop-in seated exercise class takes place. A recommended £3 donation can be made to the teacher.
