This summer, Visit Newbury is excited to announce two evenings of late night shopping in Newbury town centre, on Thursday 3rd July and Thursday 7th August.
We’ve received a few questions and wanted to let you know some more information about the evening!
Q: Is Newbury Late Night Shopping a West Berkshire Council activity created to promote the extension of pedestrianisation hours in Newbury town centre?
A: This is not a West Berkshire Council activity, but has been organised by the team at Visit Newbury.
Visit Newbury is operated by Newbury Business Improvement District (BID), a not-for-profit organisation which represents over 450+ local businesses in Newbury town centre.
On the back of West Berkshire Council’s trial extension of pedestrianisation hours until 11pm, we are running these late night shopping evenings to gather data alongside local businesses, and measure the impact of pedestrianisation and late night shopping on the retail and hospitality sectors based in the town centre. We have worked alongside a number of businesses who have generously offered to stay open late, so please do show them some support!
Q: Will there be free car parking?
A: Yes, subject to availability. Camp Hopson Car Park is offering free parking from 5pm to midnight. RG14 1DS.
Q: Who is staying open late?
A: There are currently 24 businesses staying open, from shopping at Primark to a book signing at Waterstones, there is plenty to do and see in Newbury on Thursday evening. A full list of the shops staying open late can be found here.
Q: Where can I dine afterwards?
A: We are spoiled for choice with many fantastic food and drink options to enjoy in the town centre ranging from charming independents to trusty national chains! You can find a list of restaurants here, or if you’d prefer a drink and a meal in a nice local pub, have a browse here.
