Visit Newbury Kicks off the Festival of the Moon Pub Trail

Visit Newbury Kicks Off the Festival of the Moon Pub Trail

Visit Newbury, the organisation behind Newbury BID, is celebrating the launch of the much-anticipated Festival of the Moon with a summer pub trail this August.

As a countdown to the Museum of the Moon art installation by Luke Jerram and wider Festival of the Moon celebrations across Newbury, locals and visitors are invited to embark on a moonlit pub trail from 15 August to support our much loved local Hospitality scene and also be in for a chance to win VIP tickets for the Real Ale Festival.

This exciting adventure will take participants through the fantastic venues Newbury has to offer and encourage visitors to try out some of the town’s favourite pubs.

Trail cards can be collected at any of the participating venues or downloaded online here, and participants will receive a stamp upon purchasing a drink in each pub. Collecting all 16 stamps from the 16 participating pubs offers a chance to win fabulous prizes, including VIP tickets for the Newbury Real Ale Festival for themselves and three friends, worth more than £300.

Winners of the grand prize will also enjoy a complimentary welcome drink at the Newbury Real Ale Festival, exclusive access to VIP areas, access to VIP bar lanes, and six standard and one premium drinks token. Other exciting prizes include boutique stays, beer-tasting experiences, meals at popular restaurants, and more, all kindly donated by local businesses.

The trail concludes on 3 September, providing almost three weeks to explore the town’s vibrant pub scene. Newbury BID is encouraging responsible drinking and advising against completing the trail in a single day, and instead taking in everything Newbury has to offer over the Pub Trail period.

Alison Drummond, Operations Manager, Newbury BID, added: “We’re so excited to be putting Newbury on the map this summer with the Festival of The Moon, and our Pub Trail is designed to get bums on seats and encourage people to make the most of our famous hospitality. With sixteen pubs on the list, participants are sure to have lots of fun!”

Pubs taking part in the trail include the Bacon Arms, Cross Keys, The Lion, The Monument, The Lock Stock & Barrel, The Catherine Wheel, The Elephant at the Market, The Hatchet, Old Waggon & Horses, Slug & Lettuce, Walkabout, The Newbury, The Globe, The Coopers Arms, Cow & Cask, and The Dolphin.

The pub trail is suitable for individuals aged 18+ years. Entries must be submitted by 4 September to The Catherine Wheel. Fulls Terms & Conditions are available on the Visit Newbury website: https://visitnewbury.org.uk/festival-of-the-moon-pub-trail/
