Welford Park
Only 8 miles from Newbury town centre you’ll find Grade I listed Welford Park, a grand country house and estate famous for being the original filming location for The Great British Bake Off.
Locally, though, Welford Park’s picturesque carpet of snowdrops is its biggest talking point. For more than 50 years, the grounds of this private residence have been opened up on an annual basis to welcome visitors to enjoy the wintery bloom. Each year, the opening dates vary depending on when the first glimmers of white start to emerge on the woodland floor. You usually have around a four week window in late winter to visit, and the opening is limited to certain days of the week. The Newbury Today and Welford Park websites are worth keeping an eye on for the opening announcement.
