Paddington Statue

Paddington Statue
Northbrook Street,
Newbury,
RG14 1DJ
01635 885055

Located on Northbrook Street in the heart of Newbury town centre, Newbury’s much-loved Paddington Bear statue is a must-visit for fans of the famous marmalade-loving bear.

With his signature red hat, blue duffle coat, and marmalade sandwich, the statue celebrates Newbury’s connection to Michael Bond, who was born in West Mills, just a short stroll from Newbury town centre, and went on to create one of the world’s most iconic children’s characters.

Visitors can now find Paddington sitting proudly on a bench outside Newbury’s historic Camp Hopson department store which, very appropriately, is where Michael Bond’s mother worked before his birth!

The statue also forms part of the Paddington Visits trail, a nationwide collection of sculptures celebrating the beloved bear, making Newbury a special stop for anyone following in Paddington’s pawprints.

If you fancy a short walk that takes in some of Newbury’s best sights and also stops by Paddington, make sure you check out the Paddington Visits Newbury hike by Ordnance Survey.
