Newbury and the wider West Berkshire area has been renowned for horse racing since the early 19th century and Newbury is home to one of the UK’s premier racecourses, which has stood in its current location just a mile from the town centre since 1905 (and is a firm favourite of HRH Queen Elizabeth II!).

If you’re a lover of horse racing, then Newbury Racecourse really is the place to be. It has courses for flat and jump races and it even plays host to the Lockinge Stakes, one of Great Britain’s 36 annual Group 1 flat races.

A regular programme of horse racing takes place here throughout the season, with highlights including the Dubai Duty Free International in September and the Ladbrokes Winter Carnival in November.
