We’d like to share a huge thank you to all the wonderful volunteers who joined us for our second Community Clean-Up of the year on Thursday, 18th September.
We love Newbury, but occasionally the town needs a little TLC, and in September’s volunteer event we decided to focus on a few specific areas around the town centre that were starting to look a little worse for wear.

One of our main objectives was covering up some (rather vulgar) graffiti down the alleyway between the Elephant at the Market and the Corn Exchange, where the wall was given a brand new coat of paint.
The team of volunteers also tackled outdoor spaces near the Waterside Centre and Parched – doing our bit to help the new bar look its best before it opens in the coming weeks!
We gave public bins around the town centre a good scrub and soak, and removed plenty of old posters, stickers and cable-ties from lampposts.

In total, we collected over 20 bin bags of rubbish – and we’re so grateful to all the volunteers from local groups who gave their time today:
- UHY Ross Brooke
- ELIS Cleanroom
- Newbury College
- Ascensia Diabetes Care
- Newbury Rotary Club
- Cow & Cask
- Vodafone Newbury
- Kennet Shopping
- Newbury Spring Festival
- Newbury Town Council
- Restyled by SLC
- and a few members of the public who kindly decided to join us!
We’d also like to thank Kennet Shopping and West Berkshire Council for kindly lending us some equipment – and a big thank you to Milk & Bean for providing the pit-stop drinks!

The next Community Clean-Up is scheduled for Thursday 19th March 2026, and anyone is welcome to join. If you would like to learn more, please email us on info@newburybid.com
