West Berkshire Council is working with Newbury Town Council and Newbury Business Improvement District (BID) to undertake a refresh of the Newbury Town Centre Masterplan, published in 2022, identifying new opportunities to shape the future of Newbury town centre.
Newbury BID will be working alongside Newbury town centre’s business community to identify issues and ideas for consideration during the stakeholder engagement phase of the refresh.
Richard Farley, Newbury BID Manager, said: “The Masterplan refresh is a great opportunity for us all to look at Newbury town centre with fresh eyes, explore new ideas and consider how we can address some of the challenges facing the town. As an organisation focused on supporting local businesses and promoting Newbury town centre, we’re proud to be playing a part in the process. It’s particularly important that the views, experiences and ideas of the businesses that operate here are heard and considered, helping to shape a vision for a town centre that works for businesses, residents and visitors both now and in the future.”
The following categories have been identifed as focal points for the project.
- Local Economy
- Parks, Rivers and Green Spaces
- Transport, Accessibility and Public Spaces
- Culture, Heritage and Tourism
- Communities, Safety and Public Health (including youth provision)
- Development and Housing
Businesses that operate within the Newbury BID area are encouraged to get in touch to share their thoughts. You can also contact farley@newburybid.com to learn more or to arrange a meeting with the Newbury BID team.
The Newbury Town Centre Masterplan refresh will open for public engagement in early 2027.
