Melissa Hughes, CEO, Newbury BID

Melissa Hughes - Chief Executive Officer

Melissa joined the BID team in June 2020 after spending most of her career in strategic Marketing, HR and Operations roles within the property industry. She also has experience in Retail, Hospitality and Education. Her expertise is in identifying business needs and leading the way in business transformation across both B2B and B2C sectors.

Melissa is the designated point of contact for B2B, professional services and office-based businesses in the BID area.

Fun Fact: Melissa has moved home 19 times in her life so far and is a big fan of organising kitchen cupboards!

Alison Drummond - Operations Manager

Alison joined the BID team in March 2020 after 10 years as Events Manager for Oxford City Council. Alison is an expert in events management and operations, including security management, health and safety, legislation, and best practice. She is a dedicated and tenacious member of the team and a brilliant relationship-builder, who will do everything in her power to support businesses and make things happen for them.

Alison is the designated point of contact for leisure and hospitality businesses in the BID area.

Fun Fact: Alison once worked as a TV presenter in Bolivia!

Kirsty Lemberger - Marketing Manager

Kirsty brings a wealth of marketing and account management experience after working for a leading marketing agency in the North East. Working across both B2B and B2C accounts, Kirsty had a large client portfolio, including popular London restaurant chains, hotels, and one of the ‘Big-Four’ B2B companies.

Kirsty is the designated point of contact for healthcare, education, hair and beauty and club membership businesses in the BID area.

Fun Fact: Kirsty was primarily brought up in Cyprus and has also lived in Spain and Gibraltar!


Bri O'Sullivan- Project Assitant

As the newest member to join the BID team, Bri has come onboard to help across a multitude of the team's ongoing projects. In life before the BID, Bri managed two Newbury based, independent hospitality venues and thus is no stranger to the BID and how it functions!

Though originally from America, Bri has been a Newbury resident since 2009 and is passionate about seeing this beautiful town (and the businesses therein) continue to thrive.

Fun Fact: Bri is not, in fact, named after cheese. Bri is short for Brianna
