On Thursday 26th August, we reached out to local businesses in Newbury town centre, asking them to nominate outstanding members of staff to win a pair of tickets to the hugely popular Newbury Real Ale Festival, of which we were a key sponsor for 2021.
We’re delighted to confirm they received more than 30 nominations for the prize giveaway from an array of businesses across all sectors, including office-based organisations, hospitality, retail and hair and beauty. We were overwhelmed with the quantity of entries coming in from business owners, managers and senior staff, as many rushed to enter the competition in a bid to win the tickets and reward hardworking staff.
All nominations were entered into a prize draw and winners were generated at random to make the competition as fair as possible.
The winners, are as follows:
Blues Smoke House, Jean Marc-Bidegain
bstFitness, Milena Skrodzka
Grape Tree, Izzy
Hamptons, Deborah Giacobbi
Jack Wills, Kaya Huszarik
MAXX Design, Stephen Cripps
Newbury Town Council, Elisa Mullen
Outsource International Limited, John Webber
Pizza Express, Joe
Ripples, Amanda Day
Roderick Anthony, Leanne Fayers Hallin
Shoe Zone, JK
TaxAssist Accountants, Julie Moore
We Buy, Nathan Holland
Willow and Blooms, Naomi Carolan
We would like to congratulate all nominated employees and thanks all businesses who entered.
Below are some of the nominations we received:
Martin Trumper, Managing Director of Outsource International, nominated John Webber, Service Centre Team Leader:
Since the pandemic, John has gone above and beyond to support both his own team and colleagues throughout the business to help them overcome a wide variety of both business and personal challenges.
We run a 24-hour international business, and he makes himself available at all times and at any hour to other staff members, customers and partners. He has shown his true colours and is a very valuable asset to the business, for which we are very grateful!
Anthony Griffins, Director at Roderick Anthony Hairdressing, nominated Leanne Fayers Hallin, Manager and Stylist:
Through the last year of an awful time in hairdressing, Leanne has been excellent at managing the salon- hardly needing to lean on me at all.
She has taken away the burden of sorting out many things from me and managed to keep the salon running well under very difficult circumstances. All that whilst working a full column of her clients! She has been amazing, and I cannot thank her enough.
Dianne Garnett, Director of Ripples, nominated Office Manager Amanda Day:
She is an absolute star within our business and has been with us through thick and thin. We recently had quite a nasty flood in the showroom and up to the mantle she jumped, beginning with rolling up her sleeves and grabbing buckets, to calling insurance and allowing us at the front to get back to selling as soon as possible... She is lovely to have around which makes coming into work a pleasure.
Melissa Hughes, our CEO, says:
It’s been a delight seeing all of the entries come in and a real pleasure reading through the nominations. I feel so proud of the Newbury business community for pulling through such an awful time, and we’re pleased we’re able to reward some of the members of staff who have played their part in helping their business pull through.
