Festival of Light 2021
12 December, 2021 5:00 pm
Newbury Town Centre
the Corn Exchange
Sunday 12th December | Candle fitting from 5pm, 6pm Procession start | Outside the Newbury Methodist Church on Northbrook Street | Free
Newbury residents and visitors of all ages are invited to light up the streets of Newbury as they walk the winter streets of the town together, candlelit lanterns in hand.
Starting on Northbrook Street, the twinkling wonderland will travel through to the Market Place, where live music and a festive atmosphere will be waiting under the illuminated sky.
Lantern making workshops are being offered by the Corn Exchange in the run up to the event, and at present, lantern bearer tickets are currently only available to customers who have attended a lantern workshop.
If you are taking part in one of the lantern workshops at 101 Creation Space or through your primary school, you will be given a priority code to book your space to take part in the procession. You will receive this code once you have attended a workshop.
Each lantern bearer is being asked to book their place at the procession this year to help monitor capacity and so the Corn Exchange can easily contact participants in case of any changes to government guidelines.

For anybody who would like to attend the event and does not wish to participate in a lantern workshop, the Corn Exchange will be releasing additional procession places and general attendance tickets during the first week of December – so watch this space!
Part of the Corn Exchange’s annual programme of outdoor arts, the Festival of Light is presented by the Corn Exchange and 101 Outdoor Arts Creation Space and funded by Greenham Trust and Arts Council England.
