DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wanted to save a life? \nBetter Newbury is running free-to-attend CPR workshops on 15th and 16th October. \nThe local fitness centre is taking part in the Restart a Heart campaign – a nationwide initiative to improve survival rates from out-of-hospital cardiac arrests\, which affect 30\,000 people each year (that’s over 80 people each day). \nThese workshops are designed to improve people’s knowledge and anyone is welcome to join\, regardless of age or current skill level. DESCRIPTION:When Summer was just 13 years old\, she suffered a spinal stroke that left her paralysed for four long weeks. Thanks to the incredible generosity of the the local public over the past year\, Summer has been able to access vital therapies not available on the NHS. \nSummer has now teamed up with brand new Newbury locals The High Horse Pub\, plus favourite local musician Sion Whiley\, to bring you a night of good vibes\, live music and community spirit – all while raising awareness of Childhood Stroke and helping to raise fuds that can support other children and families facing similar challenges. They aim to: \n💫 Build a network for children silently affected by stroke\n💫 Raise funds for essential therapies and treatments not available through the NHS\n💫 Share stories and inspire hope\n💫 Connect with like-minded people who want to make a difference \nThere will be raffle tickets available on the night\, with a whole load of prizes generously donated from local businesses in and around Newbury & Thatcham. \nYou can see the latest event updates on Summer’s Instagram page\, or head to the link below to learn more about Summer’s story.

DESCRIPTION:On Wednesday 22nd October\, Newbury will join towns and cities across the UK in a mass “Glow Ride” as part of Cycling UK’s ‘My Ride. Our Right.’ campaign. The event highlights the need for safer streets and better cycling infrastructure\, especially for women riding after dark. \n​Three local cycling clubs – Newbury Road Club\, Newbury Velo and West Berkshire Spokes – are working together to bring the event to the town.
