SUMMARY:ShakeItUp: The Improvised Shakespeare Show
DESCRIPTION:Shakespeare hasn’t written anything new for an age\, so we thought we would give him a hand… Using his language\, your audience suggestions\, and our overactive imaginations\, ShakeItUp create a brand-new Shakespeare play live on stage. \nPick your authentic Shakespearean genre: Epic History\, Romantic Comedy\, or Gruesome Tragedy! Pen your wittiest Shakespearean line for our brave actors to pull from their suitably-Shakespearean breeches when they need a helping hand – the twist? They’ll have no idea what the line will be before they say it! \nThen sit back and watch the hilarity unfold in a totally bonkers play that Willy Shakes himself would be proud of. Expect big laughs\, high drama\, and plenty of Bard-based Bedlam! \nShakeItUp Theatre launched The Improvised Shakespeare Show in 2018. Since then they have performed well over 100 totally improvised Shakespeare plays to audiences across the UK\, from the Minack Theatre in Cornwall\, to London’s The Other Palace\, and to the Edinburgh Fringe; even performing internationally in Italy\, Poland\, and Germany.

SUMMARY:Comb
DESCRIPTION:At times chilling\, hilarious and moving\, Comb is an ode to the stories of the people we have lost. \nThrough a tangled ride into Celtic\, Slavic and Siberian folklore\, Comb is a wake-up call for understanding just how interwoven we all are. When Charlotte was 8\, her Grandad told her the beginning of a story: ‘I saw a banshee once\, just outside of Galway… ‘ Years later a chance encounter led her to find the rest of his story buried deep within family archives. \nThis unbelievable link to her past made her realise that she might actually be cursed. Learn the art of storytelling at a pre-show workshop with Charlotte Mooney\, artistic director of Ockham’s Razor.

SUMMARY:Heritage Open Days: Decontamination Suite\, Greenham Common
DESCRIPTION:Heritage Open Days is England’s largest festival of history and culture. It’s your chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences – and it’s all free. \nTake a guided tour of the Cold War Decontamination Suite at the former US Airbase. This rare opportunity offers access to a normally closed part of the site\, with knowledgeable guides sharing the history and stories behind this unique building. \nGreenham Common served as a US Army Air Forces and later US Air Force airfield from the Second World War onwards\, becoming synonymous with the Cold War. Between 1982 and 1991\, it was home to the US Air Force’s 501st Tactical Missile Wing\, which operated 96 Ground Launched Cruise Missiles. The base also became internationally known for the Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camp and its anti-nuclear protests. \nToday\, few buildings from the former airbase remain. As part of Heritage Open Days\, the charity that operates Greenham Control Tower has been granted special permission to open the Decontamination Suite within Building 274\, offering visitors a rare opportunity to explore an area that is not usually accessible. \nNormally closed to the public\, this remarkable facility is attached to the former command centre of the 501st Tactical Missile Wing. Built with blast-resistant reinforced concrete and heavy blast doors\, it was designed to protect personnel in the event of a chemical attack. The building also featured self-contained air\, water and sanitation systems\, allowing it to remain operational during an emergency. \nJoin expert guides for a rare opportunity to explore this fascinating Cold War facility and discover the history of a site that played an important part of Greenham Common’s history. \nLearn more via the link below.
